Mission

First, form. First, function.

Few companies have shaped the office and commercial furniture industry as much as Wilkhahn. Over many years, we have taken our own pioneering standpoint and consistently upheld it. Design, innovation and quality are still the core brand values today.

Wilkhahn employs more than 550 people worldwide and today already realizes more than 70% of its turnover outside Germany. Despite globalization and cost pressure, Wilkhahn is a successful example of how even medium-sized companies from a high-wage country can assert themselves on international markets in the long term. However, clear differentiation from the competition is an absolute necessity for this. On the one hand, through outstanding product quality, and on the other hand, through a distinctive corporate culture. For us, this means in concrete terms: sustainable management and the assumption of ecological responsibility take precedence over short-term success.

This orientation has been the basis of our corporate culture for more than 100 years and will remain so for further successful decades of the Wilkhahn brand.

Friedrich Hahne and Christian Wilkening founded a chair-making factory in Eimbeckhausen near Hanover.
The name of the two founders was later used to create the company name of Wilk-hahn. High-quality, solid beech chairs were made from wood from nearby forests.

The manufacturing plant did not differ greatly from the other 100 or so small and medium-sized chair manufacturers in the area.
